About Us
Serving the poor and needy from Heart to Heart

Heart to Heart is a non-profit, non-government aided welfare set-up initiated by Teresa Hsu. The Service reaches out to the poor and needy by providing them with food and monetary assistance every month.

The driving forces behind Heart to Heart Service are Teresa Hsu and Sharana Rao. Teresa is 105 and Sharana is more than half a century old. While most people at their age would be enjoying their retirement, Teresa and Sharana chose to live their lives, not only with zest, but with a strong passion to serve and share with others: the poor and elderly, many of whom are younger than her.

Encouraged by their strong motivation to help others, the service receives donations from private and individual well-wishers. Any contribution received from the public, be it food, clothings or money, will be distributed to the needy families in Singapore and neighbouring countries.

The food rations provided by Heart to Heart Service go a long way for the poor and needy. Other than reference from friends and newspaper reports of the needy, Heart to Heart Service has also been approached by Ministry of Community Development and Sports (MCDS) and other non-profit organisations to help supplement some of the families with food rations.

All donations contributed by the public are carefully sorted and packed by Teresa and Sharana according to the needs of the families

before they are distributed. They visit the families under their charge in the first two weeks of each month to befriend them and assess their needs as well as to give them a monthly allowance. On the last Sunday of every month, volunteers will gather to distribute the food rations to the adoptees scattered over different parts of Singapore.
